Well I decided to upgrade since there are a few games coming out, FarCry 2, Crysis 2, etc and I need more processing power. I just got the parts yesterday, but had some delays that mean I can't get it together till probably tomorrow when I should receive the power supply. This time around I went with an Intel Dual-Core E8400 which is clocked at 3Ghz and is pretty easy to overclock to 4Ghz, which is my target. AMD is really suffering on the performance front right now and wanted something fast enough to play new games. I also looked into getting a quad-core Intel, but decided that for gaming it would be more beneficial at this time to go for overall speed. For the motherboard a got a EVGA Nforce 750I SLI FTW. I had a bit of a hard time deciding on a nVidia based motherboard, but decided on this one because it had what I wanted and was a decent price (btw motherboards are overpriced right now...). It may not be the best board out there, but it's good good reviews from most people and at least this time I'll have the option of SLI. I went with an OCZ 500SXS power supply, but when I got it I realized it did not have an 8 pin ATX 12V cable, and on top of that the cable wasn't long enough to reach the plug on my motherboard. So I RMA'ed it and ordered a Corsair VX550W 550W which was a little bit more but has really good reviews and longer cables. For RAM decided to upgrade from 3GB (2x1GB, 2x512MB) of to 4GB (2x2GB). RAM is incredibly cheap right now, I got the whole 4GB for around $90 before $25 rebate!
