I finally received my car charger for my Eee PC from shop.brando.com.hk. Shipping took just under four weeks to western Canada because it came from Asia, but on the plus side the shipping was $3.

Overview and Construction

Overall construction of the charger feels sturdy. Cable length is about 4 feet, which I think is perfect for in-car use.

The cigarette adapter end is a little big but not too big. It will stick out 3 inches from the cigarette lighter port when plugged in. It also has a replaceable fuse housed near the nose of the adapter.

The DC plug is a perfect fit in the EeePC and is a very solidly built right angle connector.

The Fit

The only problem I'm having with it, which is a major one, is that it doesn't fit into the cigarette lighter in my car snugly enough. If the adapter is bumped it falls out of the socket. Now this problem seems to be caused by the long connector tip on the nose of the adapter, it is a little stiff right now but I will try and wear it in a bit and see if that helps.

I have run into this problem before with other car adapters and usually there isn’t anything you can do about it. I will also try it in a few other vehicles and see if there is a difference.

Worth Buying?

Still being determined. I'll update this as soon as I do some checking.
