NintendoThis month is going to be a great month for Nintendo Wii owners.

Today Nintendo launched the Nintendo Channel for the Wii, it has videos and information on upcoming games on the Wii. To download it make sure your console is up to date and then head over to the Wii Shop Channel.

Next is WiiWare will be launched on May 12th which will feature smaller mini-games similar to Xbox360's Arcade. One of the first games I'll be getting for WiiWare is Dr. Mario Online RX, a remastered version of the original. There is a list of confirmed games but Nintendo is not planning on releasing it officially until May 12th, for now you can take a look at the ones that NintendoWiiFanBoy knows about.

Third is WiiFit which will released on May 19th for North America. Wii Fit uses a unique platform peripheral called the Wii Balance Board that can measure a user's weight and their center of gravity, and calculate their body mass index when told the user's height. The fitness game has about 40 different activities, including yoga poses, push ups, and other exercises.

Activities Include:

Yoga exercises:

  • Ranging from deep breathing to extended poses

Muscle workouts:

  • Push-ups
  • Sit-ups
  • Twists.

Aerobic exercise:

  • Jogging, in two formats: fixed distance, and fixed time
  • Step aerobics - Three types
  • Hula Hoop- Basic and super
  • Rhythm boxing - similar to step aerobics but including the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to throw punches.

Balance games:

  • Ski jumping
  • Ski and snowboard slaloms
  • Heading footballs
  • Table tilt - Where the player shifts their balance to get balls into holes
  • Tightrope tension - The player must cross a tightrope avoiding the snap jaws
  • Balance Bubble - The player attempts to navigate down a river in a bubble without bursting it on the sides
  • Penguin slide - The player has to catch fish whilst balanced on a piece of ice
  • Zazen - The player must remain motionless whilst looking at a flame
